List of CPUs I once owned

My first computing experience was on a 286 running DOS. It was back in the early 1990s and it was a computer bought for my 2nd sister. She was learning how to use a Mac, but we had only got money for an IBM :P How sad.... I played Tetris on it, and that was all I can remember.

In Brunei, we got a Power Macintosh G3/233MHz that ran as fast as a Pentium 3/500MHz of that time. It was pricey, but it served us well.

The Athlon 64/2800+ and Sempron 2400+ computers were computers I used in Cybercafes back in 2005 in Bukit Mertajam. This list, btw, is the list of computers I ran Seti@Home on.

I then bought a Celeron 2.53GHz desktop. It was crappy, as Celeron processors are generally rubbish. Only good for MSN / Net surfing, but nothing much else.

I then got my dad an old Pentium 3/550Mhz PC for about RM 200. It was bought through Low Yat forums. Its now dead in my BM house but can be resurrected by getting a new hard disk (maybe)? But we got no use for it lah. Its just there.

For my 2007 birthday, my siblings gave me some cash so I bought a Core Duo notebook. It was nice initially but it suffered overheating problems from day 1. I sold it off months later at a RM 600 loss.

Earlier that year, I got a P4/3GHz desktop. It was fast, and I had good times playing high end graphics games. I finished Need For Speed series (most of them) and... er... thats it?!?! It had the high-midrange nVidia 6800GT and the 8600GT which was very pricey. But I had fun with it. That was the time I had quite a lot of spare change lying around. Now I'm flat broke, barely able to buy my meals day by day :( how sad.

When I was in INTI College in 2005, my dad bought me a Compaq Presario with a Celeron 1400MHz processor. It served me well at that time, but the battery wasn't THAT good as a Centrino. Barely usable. I begged, reasoned, rationalised, and cried for this laptop (yes I did!!!)

After all the fanfare, I'm now with a reasonably powerful Core Duo E2180, same family as the Core 2 Duo (2nd Gen) chips. Things are smooth, but my reconditioned hard disk is failing me. Sucks, by no spare cash to splurge. Just gotta endure it til my Birthday or Chinese New Year lah.

My next BIG purchase will be a PS3 and a LCD TV. But that'll be a while to go; perhaps when I start work in 2010???? (God willing)
