Maxtor Basic 1TB

Today I went and bought a Maxtor Basic 1Tb external hard drive for RC Ho. Got it for RM 370, which is a TOTAL bargain considering the other similar options were Rm 80-120 more. I'm now putting 390GB of stuff on it, and according to Vista, it'll be a 6 hour copy job. This gives me the opportunity to clear my System and make my 640 a true 640 disk. now its split into a 500gb partition so.. looking forward to that. Just wished that USB was a little faster though. K, I'm going back to XP :)

Imagine this. Let's take the top 10 cars for today's Australian F1 GP. They raced a distance from KL to Penang. When the winner arrived in Penang (that's Jensen Button).. he cracks open a can of Virgin Coke, and downs it as fast as he cans. Before he finishes his drink, the 10th car would have arrived too. That's how close it is, in Formula 1. Wooooo... brawngp.com GOD save the QUEEN :) [edit, i'm a Pro 250k in FB Texas Hold 'em :) High stakes, baby!] [8:30pm update] Ok, we all know about 90% of statistics lie (including this one)... but here's a Youtube video that will blow your mind. Its entitled, "Do you Know?" Oh, one more thing. My Facebook poker chip count? 0 - zero as of now.

Brawn GP takes the front row of the Australian F1 GP @ Albert Park. LIVE BLOGGING! Earth Hour 2009

Today, I'm gonna try what other tech journalist have done for quite some time now, i.e. LIVE BLOGGING through Twitter via Mobile Phone. From 8:30am-4:00pm, I will be " Twittering " live from Couzlimpics, a sports day event held by SIB, KL (A Church near Phileo Damansara). Looking forward to a day of fun, with fun people. Create a twitter account (less than 2 minutes), then follow me at twitter.com/thepippo . You can also check philipkhor.com or even thepippo.com for the hourly updates (or updates when something crazy happens!) Its Earth Day 2009 today. Even TNB got concerned phone calls that they might be cutting power during that hour. Obviously the public has a misconception, and no, TNB is NOT going to cut power. Don't know about reducing output though! I'll probably be with the FGA church gang tonight. Don't yet know what we will do; perhaps chill out in the park gazing at the Stars. "Lookout point, anyone??" But seriously though, what would an...

Pirate?

Torrent freak has a great article on why people pirate. Technically speaking, it is impossible to steal something when you are using BitTorrent, as the original files always stay intact. Nevertheless, the entertainment industry likes to label BitTorrent sites as evil places, where thieves gather to steal music and movies. March has been an extremely "Heavy" month. I average 6.5GB transfers to the internet per day and peak at 9GB for 2 separate days! Rarely in life, there is free content. I feel I'm getting my RM 88 worth of goodies through BitTorrent. I got a slight headache today. I played 4 sessions of Left 4 Dead, 1 hour each. I improved my pool skills and made interesting shots albeit lacking consistency. College work wise, I'm abit behind in my DMM (Excel) and APM (advertising), but that can be fixed tomorrow (I promise..) Might be going for the Friday F1 practise in Sepang. Malaysia has been hosting the past 10 races and still I haven't been to a single liv...

Taylors Student Council Meeting 2009

Image
26 students were chose to represent their respective programmes in Taylors as part of their student council. Jose and I represented UTS. Went for the meeting at the main campus. 3 ice-breaker. The umbrella game (just say your name/course and do something with an umbrella), who would you bring along game (if the world was to end, pick one to bring along: family, friend, scientist, doctor, engineer and give reason) and the last game was to save the egg. Then its election time. Lets just say the good guys deserved the top posts, petty politics (aka high school politics) worked in the middle level while the best brains and men were members of the respective department. No prize for which category I fall in :) NO Sek Teng CG today. Choral Choir 3pm Saturday 21 March 09 (tomorrow). Got my people, so quite excited about it. Tonnes of shit to watch, so if you'll excuse me ;) [10pm update] I came across some crazy shit by Daft Punk ( wiki ) with their "Harder Better Faster Stronger Ali...

Creative Internet Advertising

For my Advertising subject, I need to write 2000 words about the Internet and advertising campaigns. We're talking IMC and stuff, less technical, more concepts and ideas. *If you got an idea, e-mail me at pip@phailed.com I chose Burger King's "Sacrifise a Friend for a Whopper" campaign on Facebook, comparing it to the static poster at kfc.com.my . No surprise to whose I regard as a better campaign. Problem is, HOW? What do I need to cover? Should I contrast and compare over traditional media like television, billboard, endorsements and newspapers? Is there any data that supports the idea that, "Hey, internet advertising works!". One point Lukas pointed out is that, "Yes, you can create awareness. But how many of them converts into actual sales?". The Internet generation is a far more intelligent species than the people back then. ** This post is brought to you by SquareSpace, Netflix, GoDaddy, Revision 3 and the guys that brought the idea of Pedob...

Another 2012 Prophesy?

Image
There are many things I have yet to do and want to do before I die. Most of it is in the wish list cum Graduation 2009. But I really like to be able to live to at least 2020. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen. Many of you might have heard about the world ending in 2012. This theory was coined because right at that point of time, it signals the end of the Mayan calendar, rise of the Antichrist and all that. Some say, the human race will be wiped out with their own greed for power and wealth. World War 3 might be a reality. The comet dubbed "316/UA/2008" is about the size of Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Emirates Stadium combined. Just for comparison, the crater that we call "Grand Canyon" in Utah , USA was believed to be the impact of a school-bus sized comet. The general public does not yet know of this new piece of information as it is deemed Highly Classified. If you don't see me in 2 days time, I'm prob...

And a big thank you, for FINALLY making the EPL a better "show". The title would be sweeter for Manchester United if in the end, the outplay, outwit and outlasted the competition ACROSS a FULL SEASON. So there. You KNOW you'd rather be in our position ;)

,,, I've been "online" for about 12 years. If I were to brew some Black Label when I first found out about the wonderful world of the Internet, I would have a nice bottle (or crate, pallette, shipment, warehouse, whateveR) of Black Label. I was a big fan of Tech TV. Since G4 bought over, and Kevin Rose & team chose mutual separation from the network, I've been keeping track of what they're up to. Digg.com came up, and it has been my numero-uno news sources since June 2005. Alien searching programme. As per previous post (somewhere late last year), I've been searching for aliens on my computer since April 1999. Then, it was the Power Macintosh G3/233MHz work horse, crunching a single work "unit" in about 24 hours (later 30 hours due to extra computation). If the similar work was done on my current machine, it would be done in under 5 minutes. Lowyat.net . Yupp, stuck with it since Jan 6, 2003. Actually it was earlier. They had a system upgrade in ...

maxis.com.my/iphone

http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone/rateplan2.asp Pippo's advise. Wait for June updates. Its just over 2 months. These maxis fuckers are just clearing old Apple stock. Remember, the current ifontriji was launched June 2008, so you're getting old shit Oh, and GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED! [7am update] After reviewing the aifontriji plans, it makes more economical sense to keep my k850i and buy an iPod touch. After all, the iPhone is merely an iPod Touch with phone/3G features. 16/32GB iPod touch is now RM 1.23k and RM 1.63k. Come May/June the price will be the same, but we'll see 32/64GB capacities. Compare that to the aifontriji which costs Rm 3k + usage fees (for the minimum 6-month commit with Maxis). Data? Hahaha, they only give between 0.5 - 3 GB per MONTH! wtf. That's like visiting 2000 pages. A typical 30 minute facebook session means 1/10 of the quota used. 3/4 of the time, the modern day sites take upu 8/3 times more data due to heavy images, music and possibly video. 1/5 ...

People with UNIQUE names

A taylors student council rep e-mailed me to ask me for a date. My Friday is pretty free (Bowling cancelled due to Tournament at Pyramid BowL) so why not. Her email? chinchin.tan@taylors. So I wrote: Hi Ms Chin, I will be able to attend the above meeting. Then I got her reply. 3 minutes later. Noted . See you there J Shirley Tan Student Welfare & Services (ECA) Notice the J at the end. Could it be a code? Like, meet in private at Block J, cuz I have got a package for you (the next gen iPhone?) I'm so sex-cited. Oh, and her name is Ms. TAN :P Next time I'll name my son Khor Lim Chew. 1, is because it has 3 different surnames. 2, because in Hokkien, it means "drink alcohol".. mmm....

Interesting careful observations

"We decided, recently, we're going to make this a Top 13 ." With those words from Simon Cowell, the American Idol -verse erupted with applause, because it meant that fan fave Anoop Desai would proceed into the next round of the Season 8 competition. The article on TVguide.com ended with ".... is it a publicity stunt?" OF COURSE IT IS, YOU DING DONG! Prolly because of the darn Slumdog Millionaire thing now the India Indians are more respected than the China Chinese. Hey, we got slums here in downtown Kay-El too you know; why not pity us? (CNN) -- North Korea says it will retaliate if its "satellite" launch from its northeastern coast is intercepted, with the communist nation saying interference would "mean a war." The statement came as the North cut off communications with neighboring South Korea. Here we go! My dad lived through the World War II endings. Now I get to live to World War III. At least I got something to tell my kids! Once Obam...

Images captured using DU Meter I like to tell my friends something along the lines of: I've downloaded lots of shit, but haven't watched it yet! Just yesterday, YW gave me even more, added to the 5 HK Drama series given by Micheal from College - (The Four, Forensic Heroes 1 & 2, Moonlight Resonance, Pillow Case and Weird Detective). My 640 prolly has 150 left :P We're trying something out for the CG: http://oug.phailed.com So far no response due to some glitches, but I'm trying to fix that. United 4 - 0 Fulham. Tevez, Rooney and our local hero Park Ji Sung! Abit disappointed I didn't hit my prediction (wayyyyyyyy off...) Gonna get started on some school assignments. Better start early and produce quality shit; aiming to get Credit average mah ;)

Apple's new iMac, Mini and Pro

Its 1 am and I just watched 2 back-to-back episodes of "24" season 7. Super exciting. Right this very hour, Apple refreshed its iMac, Mac Mini and Mac Pro computers. No big surprise on the specs; they're just shoving in what Intel produces. Lets start with the Mac Mini. Mac Mini is the cheapest computer that Apple produce (unless you categorise iPod Touch / iPhone as computers!) It is the size of a lunchbox, and it sure packs a punch. It has baseline specs, a low end Core 2 Duo and minimal memory and hard disk. It comes with nVidia's 9400m integrated graphics chip which is basically a "slightly better" extreme graphics. Its nice that Apple's NOT using the cheapo Dual Core series of processor (like YW and I did for our new rigs). Intel probably cut them a deal with super nice discounts. In short, if you wanna try out the Macintosh Operating system with minimal amount of cash, get a Mac Mini. Just plug your existing monitor, keyboard and mouse and you'...

Its a new dawn, a new era. We will be able, to transform the jangling dischords of this nation, into a symphony of brotherhood! Ok, YW said my drawing 4 posts ago wasn't that impressive. I'll try to +1 on him this time. =) Some verses to ponder after listening to Bone Thug's Change The World song Matt 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Job 22:30 He makes safe the man who is free from sin, and if your hands are clean, salvation will be yours. Ps 72:4 May he be a judge of the poor among the people, may he give salvation to the children of those who are in need; by him let the violent be crushed.
